York Auction Centre had 407 head of stock forward including 234 Cattle, 88 Sheep and 85 Pigs at their weekly sale of Prime stock.

25 Spring Lambs sold to 417p/kg from R J Greenbank and to £181 from W Jibson & Son; to average 394.83p/kg.

24 cull sheep sold to £184 from Green Farm.

Just a small show across all sheep sections today with the good weather keeping farmers busy with hay making, but those who made it were rewarded with an absolutely flying trade! Although new season lambs seem to be dropping in line with seasonal trade, we saw a very healthy average of 394.83/kg! The top pp/kg new season lambs were presented by R J Greenbank selling to 417/kg for a pen of super texel crosses to Yorks’s halal meat suppliers, and the top grossing lambs were presented by W Jibson & son at £181 selling to G Haslehurst & son. A very mixed show of hoggs found a reasonable trade topping at 289ppkg or £130/ head for some nice texel x from Green Farm. In the cull section, ewes topped at £184/ head for some strong well-bred texels, and Suffolks sold to £150/ head from local mart supporter Steve Bristow.
