York Auction Centre had 404 head of stock forward including 222 Cattle, 116 Sheep and 66 Pigs at their weekly sale of Prime stock.

SHEEP

Not just as many sheep forward but regular vendors supplied some quality to sell. Trade was just back a little on the week in line with other centres but not by much, with a respectable average of 297/kg SQQ or 293/kg all in. D Hardcastle topped todays gross price at £154/ head for some heavy texel crosses selling to C T Clough, JB potter wasn’t far behind at £148/ head and Erica Avis once again topped the pp/kg at 323p/kg for her super beltex crosses. 

In the cull section ewes were just a touch easier, with R A Suddaby topping the day at £145/ head for his Suffolk crosses, J B Potter sold a pen of texel crosses to £140/ head and mules from the same home sold to £125.
