SHEEP

The Wet weather, Bluetongue, and farmers just being between batches of lambs kept a lot at home today but what a trade we had for those who made it! Trade lifted nearly 20ppkg on the week with the SQQ sitting at 305.74 and the all in average at 302.9! Stephen Barnes topped the pp/kg today at 338/kg for a pen of 3 42kgs tex x selling to Harry Bromwich family butchers and R A Dobson topped the gross price today at £173 for a heavy texel x selling to C K Retail, overall, some super lambs penned today with only a couple a bit lean but fed lambs were a real joy to sell! In the cull section, a very good number was forward with 106 head of everything imaginable penned. Trade topped at £131 for a beltex x from R A Dobson, and Richard Greenbank was only £1 behind for a pen of 4 strong texel x ewes. Mules sold to £78/ head and tups sold to £145 for a texel from Green Farm. All culls forward to average £85.36. We will hopefully be able to accept prime stock to the red market from the bluetongue restriction zones soon, please keep in touch with the auctioneers!
