SHEEP

A fantastic show of lambs forward today with 101 head penned both from inside and outside the zone! Regular mart supporters R A Dobson and D Barnes jointly topped the pp/kg for their quality beltex x lambs at 337/kg, selling to Knavesmire butchers and Neil Tattersall topped the gross price at £166/ head for a pen of 57.5kg texel x lambs with nothing in the consignment under £148! No discounted restricted zone lambs at York!! To quote a famous local butcher- “all meat, a real treat!” Best quality lambs absolutely flew away to our local butcher outlets and wholesalers! Hannah and Rebecca Lazenby presented a tremendous run of well bred & fed, good weight lambs out of the zone anywhere from £132/ head to £165/head!  Just one or two lean and light sorts penned to pull the average back a touch but overall the SQQ sat at a very respectable 280.41/kg and all in average of 279.72/kg! 

In the cull section ewes topped at £120 for a heavy cross bred sort and mules sold to £108/ head all culls to average £91.71.
