SHEEP

Another good number of lambs forward today with a few more commercial sorts penned. Trade just looked a whisker back on the week in line with trends and the grade of lambs in, but still ahead of other centres at the close of last week, with the SQQ sitting at 276.66p/kg. The all in average sat just a whisker under 270 at 269/ kg with quite a few over 50kg lambs just helping to pull the av back a little too. Overall, trade looked very good, and all vendors returned home delighted! Lambs topped at 320/kg or £160 for two 50kg texel x from Riseborough farming selling to Knavesmire butchers, and M J & J C White weren’t far behind at £150/ head for a pair of super beltex x selling to J Penny & sons. A super run of tex x Cheviot lambs, all like peas in a pod from Andy Gibson sold very well with three pens at 278/kg and two pens at 277p/kg. 

50 cull sheep sold to £124/ head for a pen of heavy texel x from high farm mules sold to £65/ head from Banklink Ltd, Restricted Zone ewes sold to £120 for two pens from M Kendra & sons and tups sold to £117 from high farm and £115/ head from H&B Beevers, all culls to average £96.84/ head.
