York Auction Centre had 546 head of stock forward including 195 Cattle, 287 Sheep and 64 Pigs at their weekly sale of Prime stock.

16 Native Breed Young Bulls sold to 385p/kg from G Baxter & Sons and to £2974.40 from R H Clarkson & Sons; to average 358.38p/kg.
13 Black and White Young Bulls sold to 353p/kg from Rob Brownbridge & C Kirkby and to £2464.66 from Robin Warkup LTD; to average 331.23p/kg.

A busier day across the market today with 196 cattle forward although bulls remain in short supply!
78 young bulls topped at 437ppkg for a nice pure Limousin from J R Hildreth selling to Worsley wholesale butchers and the top grossing bull was presented by Robin Warkup of Emmotland totalling £3417.75 for a heavy Simmental x which also sold to Worsley wholesale butchers, and a further 7 bulls broke the £3000 barrier! Native bulls sold to 385p/kg and black and whites looked a very good trade at tops of 353p/kg.
A super 96 head of clean cattle sold to 451ppkg for a superb BRBx heifer from Wagstaff bros selling to John Penny & sons, and F W & J M Douglas topped over all with a heavy Limousin steer totalling £3,599, part of a tremendous run of heavy cattle! 11 more heavy cont x steers sold over £3000, and heifers weren’t far behind with the top grossing heifer today totalling £2976 for a BRBx from J F, J M & T Stephenson selling to A Laverack & son butchers. Although a mixed show of clean, the best and heaviest sorts of cattle remain very well sold!
20 otms found their trade with the best and heaviest regularly around the 3.00-mark, C A & W E Lockwood topped the pp/kg at 332.5ppkg for a Shapley Piedmontese cow, and D & M L P Woolhouse presented the top two grossing cows totalling £2,916, and £2,474 for their enormous pedigree Limousins.

245 hoggs forward sold to tops of £173/ head for a pair of nice 51kg texels from W Jibson & son, selling to CK Retail, heavy hoggs were definitely harder to place but topped at £165/ for some nice sorts from F Marshall & son, light and medium hoggs definitely look the best trade at the moment with beltex x from R A Dobson selling to 358ppkg and 343ppkg. Overall trade looked good but a few hoggs are still a touch lean, which just brought average back a touch, the sqq sat at 323ppkg and over all averaged 316ppkg. 42 culls sold to £195/ head from Jim Brown, other Tex x sold to £156/ head from W Jibson and mules sold to £110/ head from Brian Pearson, all culls forward to average £141.
