York Auction Centre had 505 head of stock forward including 191 Cattle, 223 Sheep and 91 Pigs at their weekly sale of Prime stock.

CATTLE

54 Continental Young Bulls sold to 468p/kg from R E Schofield and to £3768.87 from D G Johnson & Son; to average 398.63p/kg.

10 Native Breed Young Bulls sold to 399p/kg A Sykes and to £2860.68 from T H Kilby & Son; to average 383.90p/kg.

30 Black and White Young Bulls sold to 395p/kg from Rob Brownbridge & C Kirkby and to £2450.74 from D A Shirt & Sons; to average 342.07p/kg.

13 Continental X Steers sold to 486p/kg from W Robshaw & Son and £3061.80 also from W Robshaw & Son: to average 435.50p/kg.

8 Native breed Steers sold to 398p/kg from Paddock Farm and to £2327.85 from G W & M Singleton & Sons: to average 371.63p/kg.

52 Continental X Heifers sold to 374p/kg from H Thompson & Son and to £2894.10 from M Davison: to average 412.21p/kg.

14 Native breed Heifers sold to 410p/kg from Paddock Farm and to £2603.73 from J W & J H Galtrey: to average 384.64p/kg.

11 OTM sold to 280p/kg from Monument Farm and to £2241.59 from Monument Farm; to average 249.20p/kg.

Bull numbers up this week and so was trade! 94 head forward sold to 468ppkg for a smart little Lim x bull from R E Schofield and a further 28 bulls sold from 4.00 upwards! The top grossing cont x bull was presented by Andrew Johnson of Ormstons farm totalling a brilliant £3768, all three super Lim bulls from the same home sold to the same price of 459ppkg! Dairy x BRBx bulls looked very well sold once again today with plenty 400ppkg and above topping out at 424ppkg from G Baxter & sons, all continentals forward to average 398.63ppkg! A lift of over 11ppkg on the week! Natives sold to 399pp/kg from A Sykes to average 384pp/kg, and black and whites sold to 395pp/kg from Rob Brownbridge & C Kirkby to average 342pp/kg, seeing a lift of 25p, and 11p respectively!

In the clean section, 87 head sold to a tremendous 486pp/kg from W Robshaw and another from the same home took the top gross price across the clean at £3061.80!  Cont x steers averaged a superb 436 pp/kg seeing a lift of 44ppkg on the week although it must be noted that we had predominantly heavy steers in last week, and heifers sold to 474ppkg from H Thompson & son, hempholme, all cont x heifers to average 413ppkg!

All clean cattle looked very well sold, with 48% 400ppkg or better and many more could have been sold!
