York Auction Centre had 161 head of stock through the market including 113 Store Cattle, 6 Pedigree Cattle, 7 Dairy Cattle, 1 Breeding Cow and 12 calves.

Pedigree Cattle Sold to 4000gns for a 23-month-old Limousin Bull from M & E Shaw.
Dairy Cattle sold to 3000gns for a Dairy Fresh Calved Cow from P J Waring & Son.
Breeding Cattle sold to £1050 for an Aberdeen Angus X Cow from Richard Nicholson Ltd.
Heifers sold to £1925 for a British Blue from H W Colley & Son Ltd.
Steers sold to £2600 for a Saler from D J Slatcher.
Bulls sold to £2600 for a Limousin X from Penwood Farm LLP.
An absolutely tremendous days trading at YAC with 114 store and feeding cattle, 34 calves and stirks, 6 pedigree beef breeding cattle and 7 dairies!
A busy calf and stirk ring kicked off the day with a fast trade for all types forward, and certainly something for every pocket! Fresh calves topped at £515 for a BRBx bull from G J Dean & son and native bulls from the same home sold to £410. Stirks were as good to sell as ever with Alfie holding taking the top spot at £990/ head for a pen of blonde x bulls and British Friesian bulls from R & E B Drake weren’t far behind at £950, all sorts looking very well sold!
In the big ring, the day started off with our first dairy sale for over a decade, and what an opener it was, with heifers topping at 3000gns from the Winton herd of messers Waring. Winton Renegade Donfloss by the much thought of S-S-I P R Renegade boasted an 83-point dam that had given 10653 kg as a heifer, sold giving 32kg, went to Richard Waring of Shiptonthorpe. Others from the same home reached 2800 gns, 2700gns, and 2140gns, to average a superb 2793gns! And a consignment of in calf heifers from Branham Farming topped at 2070 gns with 3 averaging 1984! A huge Thankyou to all our vendors and buyers!
Next up were the pedigree beef cattle, and the shaw family once again topped the sale overall with their tremendous Limousin bull Pleashaw Ugene, sired by tomschoice percy the Shapley double f9 bull was knocked down at 4000gns selling to local mart supporters H & B Beevers, two Angus bulls from the Yearsley herd- mighty bonus and Royal level- sold to 2000gns twice and in calf Beef Shorthorn cows from A Falkingham topped at £1710 gns! All cattle staying local and all vendors returning home happy!
114 store cattle took no selling once again with heights of £2600 for a tremendous Saler x steer and another from the same home sold to £2410! Other big cattle sold to £1925 for H W Colleys superb BRBx heifers and bulls topped at £2600 from Penwood farm with two more from the same home reaching £2560! Plenty other short keep cattle sold regularly away over £2000 from the Foulston brothers and J W & J Paxton! Other smaller sorts sold to £1745 from W B & A Kilby or 453ppkg, and other dairy x beef summering types from Askham Bryan College looked very well sold at £940/ head for a trio of 10-month BRBx steers! Many more can be sold every week!
