SHEEP

A small show today with vendors coming to the end of their hoggs and spring lambs only just starting to come fit, but all who made it were a good trade! The Top price hoggs today were once again presented by the Dobson family selling to £208/ head or 452/ kg to C K Retail for some smart well fed beltex x, and new vendor Tom Helmsley not far behind for some good heavy weigh hoggs selling to £195/ head to C K Retail.

A super little consignment of new season lambs from F Marshall & son of Ruston Parva sold to highs of £208/ head to C K Retail and to 431/kg to CT Clough, for their texel x and Charolais x to average 424/ kg across the board with only one pen of lighter lambs below £190!

In the cull section, 50 ewes were fantastic to sell with leaner mules looking the best sold on the day! The top ewes today were presented by R A Dobson selling to £160 to Yorks’s halal meats for a smart beltex x and other cont x ewes from the same home, M B Edwards and R J Greenbank selling from £145-£152 also to Yorks’s halal meats. A run of mules sold very well to £130/ head and blackface to £122. All culls today to average just shy of £130.
