SHEEP

Just a light show today with just about the last of the hoggs for this year forward, all grades good to sell with Holly Thompson taking the top spot at £180/ head for a pair of super 63kg beltex x, and another pen of 2 from the same home sold to 286pp/kg, all hoggs forward to average 240pp/kg.

Numbers still tight with new season lambs and plenty more can be sold but a nice show from regular vendors sold to highs of £188/ head from J B potter & sons for their well-fed texels, selling to Harry Bromwich butchers and W G Coleman weren’t far behind at £180/ head for their Charollais and local vendor S Bristow topped the pp/kg at 383p/kg.  Trade just a little back on the week as in line with other outlets but all lambs forward today averaged a healthy 364p/kg.  Ewes once again good to sell with mules selling to £140/ head and continental x selling to £172/ head for some heavy types from S Bristow, all culls to average a very good £143/ head.

52 Spring Lambs sold to 383p/kg from S Bristow and to £188 from J B Potter & Sons; to average 364.03p/kg.
