York calf ring does it again with an absolutely electric trade for all types forward! The highlight of the day was undoubtedly a super consignment of weaned BRBx bulls and heifers from Riseborough farming with an exceptional BRBx bull storming away to £710 at 8 weeks old! Pictures online! Other well shaped bulls sold regularly over £500 and a similar aged Friesian X bull sold to £350. Two older AAX stirks from the same home sold to £650. All calves selling to local mart supporters and all vendors returned home absolutely delighted!
In the big ring, the final consignment of cows & calves from T E & R Dent sold to £1380 and £1360 for his older BRBx cows with super little calves at foot to local buyers, we’d like to thank the Dent family for choosing us to disperse their herd and for all their support over the years. Other feeding cows from S E Shields looked well sold to £1115, all breeding and feeding cattle well sought after every week.
Store cattle were once again very good to sell with Brian Basham again taking the top spot with his heavy BRBx steers selling to £1495/ head, heifers sold to £1455 for their usual super suckler bred Simmentals. Slightly longer term cattle once again sold very well, especially a trio of lovely Limousin steers from A W Turner selling to £1450/ head, and similar weight stabilisers from F Frankish sold to £1355. Smaller summering cattle looked as well sold as ever with most regularly well over 300ppkg, the Dunn family topped the section at £1150 for a pair of LIM x heifers with the Paxton family not far behind at £1145 for a pair of nice Charolais, and bulls sold to £1445 for a heavy BRBx from T E & R Dent.
