York Auction Centre had 35 head of stock through the market including 33 store cattle and 2 breeding cattle.

TOP PRICES

Breeding cattle sold to £830 for a Saler cow and bull calf at foot from A Pinkerton.

Heifers sold to £1700 for a Limousin X from J B Hornby.

Steers sold to £1580 for a Simmental from J Foulston & Sons.  

Bulls sold to £1140 for a Blonde X from C T Bramley & Son.

York trade brings out the buyers! Although a small sale today, numbers were significantly up on the year, with 33 good quality stores penned which all met a flying trade and a ringside full of buyers. Jim Hornby topped the market today with a tremendous Limousin heifer which sold to £1700, others from the same good home sold to £1690, and £1685 for heavy AAX. The Foulston family weren’t far behind topping the steers today at £1580/ head for their usual top-quality home bred Simmentals. Smaller summering cattle from F Atkinson looked well sold to tops of £980 for a run of well fed dairy x blues and Philip Bramley topped the bulls at £1140 with a Blonde x, dairy bulls sold to £790/ head from N P Turnbull.
