FORWARD

York Auction Centre had 150 head of stock through the market including 83 store cattle, 25 calves, 4 breeding cattle and 38 store sheep.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £475 for a Aberdeen Angus from R & E B Drake.

Breeding cattle sold to £1240 for Hereford Cow from D H Sparrow & Son.

Heifers sold to £1600 for a Limousin X from J B Hornby.

Steers sold to £1655 for a Limousin X from J B Hornby.

Bulls sold to £1720 for a Aberdeen Angus from Rodmell.

Calves

A good show of calves in today with something for every pocket! A tremendous run of calves from regular senders A Burgess flew away to £385 for a super little Limousin bull. The top heifer today was presented by R & EB Drake selling to £475 to a good local farmer who also bought the other 2 in the same consignment. Fresh blue bull calves from B Rab sold well to 305. A few weaned black and white bulls from regular vendors and some we haven’t seen in a while sold to £225, plenty buyers here every week! 

Sheep

With the store lamb season starting to draw to a close, only a small number were forward, but all sold away to a tremendous trade, with almost more buyers than lambs! A pen of feeding ewes kicked off the afternoon from R& E B drake looking well sold at £54/ head. Beltex lambs from H&B Beevers sold from £106/ head to £109 and a pen of nice little Suffolks from R J Sanderson sold well to £97/ head, with a fantastic overall average of £105/ head.
