FORWARD

York Auction Centre had 92 head of stock through the market including 73 store cattle, 15 calves and 4 breeding cattle.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £455 for a Aberdeen Angus Heifer from D W & B Proctor.

Breeding cattle sold to £1590 for a Hereford Cow with a Limousin X Heifer calf at foot.

Heifers sold to £1460 for a Charolais X from J Humphrey.

Steers sold to £1570 for a Limousin X from J Humphrey.

Bulls sold to £1290 for a Charolais X from J F Lambert.

Calves

Another good day’s trading at YAC, and although some vendors didn’t quite make it still trying to get drilled up all who attended were rewarded with a good trade! 

In the calves and stirks, no fresh calves were forward this week but freshly weaned BRB X bulls from Riseborough Farms sold well from £375-£395, and heifers to £315. Reared black and white bulls sold to £395 from the Avis family and a run of AA X heifers from JL Shaw & son sold to £385/ head. Fresh calves always required! 

In the big ring, two older Hereford and Limousin X cows clear of the bull with good calves at foot from T E & R Dent sold to £1590 and £1570 respectively.

Store cattle were once again good to sell, with J Humphrey achieving top price for both steers and heifers, Their Lim X steer sold to £1570, and their Charolais X heifer sold to £1480. Some tremendous suckler bred cattle from Andrew Catton sold to tops of £1450 twice and slightly smaller suckler bred types from AP & RA Dunn looked very well sold to £1390 for a super pair of black Lim X heifers, with others in the consignment to nearly 3.40/kg! Heavy dairy X blues from Brian Basham sold to £1435 twice and short keep native cattle sold to highs of £1445 from the same home. Not many bulls in today, but a superb packet of suckler bred Charolais from J F Lambert flew away to £1290/ head or 300pp/kg!
