FORWARD

York Auction Centre had 93 head of stock through the market including 73 store cattle, 16 calves and 4 breeding cattle.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £650 for a British Blue Bull Calf from I & A Broadhead.

Breeding cattle sold to £1450 for Hereford cow with a Limousin X Bull calf from R & T Dales.

Heifers sold to £1405 for a Charolais X from J F Lambert.

Steers sold to £1425 for a Aberdeen Angus from G M Farms.

Bulls sold to £1145 for a Limousin X from J & M Dean & Son.

Calves

A good number of cattle forward all met a very fast trade today with plenty buyers looking for all grades of stock! 

No fresh calves forward this week, but some already entered for the coming weeks. A lovely show of stirks absolutely flew away to tops of £650 for a 6-month-old BRB X bull from I& A Broadhead and heifers sold to £585 for a similar aged BRB X heifer.

In the store ring 2 cow and calf outfits sold to £1450, and £1400 from R&T Dales for some nice young Hereford cows with younger calves at foot. 

Store cattle once again saw no let-up in trade, not many cattle over 500kgs penned today but steers topped at £1425 for a strong AAX from G M Farms and Heifers sold to £1405 for a super pure Charolais heifer from J F Lambert. No end of mid-term cattle sold around the £1400 mark and some super consignments of slightly smaller sorts sold to £1330 for Charolais heifers from J F lambert and £1230 for some well-fed BRB X heifers from J R Sturdy. Summering cattle were very well sought after with AP & RA Dunn taking the top spot for a pair of super Lim X heifers which sold to £1235/ head. Bulls of all grades were also keenly sought after with a nice Limousin from J& M Dean topping at £1145, and black and white bulls from A &A Wake sold to £680/ head.
