York Auction Centre had 91 head of stock through the market including 83 store cattle, 4 calves and 4 breeding cattle.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £450 for a Limousin X Bull Calf from A Burgess.

Breeding cattle sold to £1550 for British Blue cow with a British Blue Heifer calf from G M Farms.

Heifers sold to £1425 for a Limousin X from A W Turner.

Steers sold to £1315 for a Limousin X from L A Clappison.

Bulls sold to £1650 for a Limousin X from E H Daniel & Son.

Calves

More cattle than expected today and a tremendous trade to match!

Just a small show of calves and stirks started the day but more already entered for the coming weeks, Fresh calves sold to £450 for a superb Limousin x bull from A Burgess and stirks sold to £340 for a nice dairy shorthorn steer from C J Burkill. Strong demand for calves and stirks every week! 

In the big ring, two young cow & calf outfits from G M Farms sold to £1550 for a 2-year-old 1st calver with a strong brbx heifer calf at foot. Store cattle looked as got a trade as ever, A W Turner made the trip from Lincolnshire once again with his quality suckler bred cattle taking the top spot today with 3 x Limousin heifers which sold to £1425 a head, and Jack Clappison of Keyingham marsh topped the steers with a strong Limousin x which sold to £1315. Other larger cattle from A E Dunn sold particularly well for a consignment of AAX heifers selling to £1340/ head. Grazing cattle once again very good to sell, with all types regularly over 300ppkg, and all grades keenly sought after. Bulls topped the dale today with a tremendous run from E H Daniel of Kexby selling their Limousin bulls to £1650/ head with others in the consignment selling to £1465 and £1235, a good trip of lim x bulls from A & G M Grant sold to £1025/ head and dairy bulls from N P Turnbull sold to £915/ head.
