York Auction Centre had 73 head of stock through the market including 56 store cattle and 17 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £465 for a Simental X Heifer Calf from I & P Kilner.

Heifers sold to £1360 for a Limousin X from I Mitchell.

Steers sold to £1655 for a Limousin X from I Mitchell.

Bulls sold to £1120 for a Limousin X from A & G M Grant.

A few less in the market this week with a few vendors on combining but a good number penned saw no let-up in trade! 17 calves and stirks flew away with all vendors returning home delighted, fresh calves sold to £410 for a super Limousin x bull from A Burgess, 5 more entered from them next week. Native bred bull calves sold to £128 for an Angus x from J L Shaw & son. Stirks sold to £465 for a sim x heifer from I&P Kilner, with a Hereford x from the same home selling to £460, and a trio of AAX heifers sold to £370/ head from D A Boyes. 

In the big ring, the top price today was achieved by I Mitchell with a super Limousin x steer which sold to £1655, the Mitchell family also topped the heifers with a well-fed Lim x which sold to £1360, and Alwyn Frankish wasn’t far behind with his strong saler x steer which sold to £1345. Predominantly smaller cattle in the market today but all found a very good trade with nearly all summering types selling to around the 3.00/kg mark. Bulls sold to £1120 for a Lim x from A & G M Grant of Lockington, with two more from the same home selling to £1055 a head, and a super consignment of BRB x bulls from J R Richardson sold to £935/ head, Native bulls sold to 815/ head for a good run of AAX from the same home.
