York Auction Centre had 34 head of stock through the market including 20 store cattle and 14 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £680 for a Aberdeen Angus Heifer Calf from I & A Broadhead.

Heifers sold to £1290 for a Hereford from H W Colley & Son LTD.

Steers sold to £1520 for a Simental X from J Foulston & Son.

Bulls sold to £1140 for a Charolais X from A & G M Grant.

York calf ring does it again! A super show of quality calves all from regular vendors were a tremendous trade once again! Limousin x Fresh calves from A Burgess sold particularly well with everyone in the consignment £400 and over, topping at £450 for a stocky black bull and heifers from the same home sold to £400. AAX calves sold to £300 for a nice little heifer calf from H L & T E Smith and a British Friesian bull from the same home sold to £210.

A nice consignment of well reared stirks from I & A Broadhead topped at £680/ head for a pair of Angus heifers, BRBx heifers sold to £650 twice and a well grown black and white bull sold to £355.

In the big ring, a small show of cattle met a packed ringside and all looked very well sold, with a lot of buyers returning home empty! All grades of cattle were firmly in demand, with J F Foulston topping todays trade at £1520 for a superb, heavy Simmental steer, with others from the same home selling to £1450/ head. H.W Colley topped the heifers today with two well fed Herefords which sold to £1290/ head, the buyer remarked “we could do with these every week!”  Another Hereford from G Inchboard sold to £1100, and a nice run of BRBx heifers from JR sturdy sold to £1200/ head. Longer term AAX heifers from R & E B Drake sold to £800. Only 3 bulls in today, all from A & G M Grant which sold to £1140, and a pair of nice Charolais bulls sold to £1040/ head.
