York Auction Centre had 40 head of stock through the market including 31 store cattle and 10 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £620 for a Hereford Bull Calf from Q A Brook.

Heifers sold to £1470 for a British Blue from H W Colley & Son LTD.

Steers sold to £1400 for a Limousin X from W B & A Kilby & Son.

Not as hot a day but a red-hot trade today! 

York calf ring once again left vendors absolutely delighted with trade, a superb consignment of strong calves still on the bucket from local vendor D V Lee sold to tops of £475 for a Limousin bull with no cont x bulls today under £410, all to mart supporters J Bailey & son. Lim x Heifers sold to £435 to J&B Swift, but trade of the day had to be a super, 4-week-old Friesian bull calf also from D V Lee which sold to £260! To local mart supporter R A Suddaby. Hereford bull stirks from Quentin Brook sold to £620 twice to Paul Nesom.

*Entered for next Thursday- 24x named sire AAX bull and heifer calves 3-6 months out of lim x and Charolais x cows from J H Elvidge and Limousin x fresh calves from A Burgess* 

In the store ring, all cattle looked an absolutely tremendous trade, and many more could have been sold! W B & A Kilby topped todays trade with a shapely suckler bred Limousin which sold to £1400, and ted Lazenby was just behind, selling a trio of lovely Hereford steers to £1395/ head and slightly smaller suckler bred steers from Ben Lupton sold to £1305/ head. Heifers sold to £1470 for a strong BRB x heifer and the Kilby family weren’t far behind again selling lim heifers to £1450. Smaller grazing cattle were still good to sell with A & G M Grant selling a pair of LIM X heifers to £1100 and a nice BRB X heifer from C T Bramley sold to £965.
