York Auction Centre had 73 head of stock through the market including 47 store cattle and 26 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £805 for a Aberdeen Angus Bull Calf from J H Elvidge & Son.

Heifers sold to £1270 for a Limousin X from W B & A Kilby & Son.

Steers sold to £1350 for a Saler from F Frankish & Son.

Bulls sold to £1530 for a British Blue from C T Bramley & Son.

Trade absolutely on fire once again! The calf ring left vendors and spectators amazed with prices, one farmer even remarked “You could sell snow to eskimos through that ring!”  Fresh calves from regular vendors A Burgess sold Lim x heifers to £420 and a 15-day old Lim x heifer to £385! A tremendous run of roughly 5-month-old AAx suckler bred calves from J H Elvidge absolutely flew away to £805/ head for a pair of super bulls, and a packet of lovely AAX heifers sold to £665/ head to local farmer F Sellars. Bull stirks today averaged £738 and heifers averaged £655! 

In the big ring, store cattle were very good to sell with plenty buyers needing more cattle! Phil Bramley topped today’s trade at £1530 for a super BRB x bull, with others in his consignment selling to £1415 and £1260, John lambert wasn’t far behind with his Charolais bulls which sold to £1235. Alwyn Frankish topped the steers today with his Saler crosses selling to £1350 & £1300, and W B & A Kilby sold their usual nice Limousin x heifers to £1270 and £1265. Smaller feeding cattle sold to £1235 for a nice shapely Lim x heifer from J Bartram & son and a nice consignment of BRB x heifers sold to £1185 from J R Sturdy.
