FORWARD

York Auction Centre had 52 head of stock through the market including 36 store cattle and 16 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £580 for a Charolais X Bull Calf from P H Waring & Son.

Heifers sold to £1395 for a Charolais X from J F Lambert.

Steers sold to £1285 for a Charolais X from E Lazenby.

Bulls sold to £1040 for a British Friesian from N P Turnbull.

A few less cattle today but trade remained as hot as ever! No fresh calves forward today, but a decent run of stirks sold very well to tops of £580 for a char x bull from P H Waring to Paul Nesom and a heifer from the same home sold to £555 to Keith Dunn. A nice packet of Hereford x feeding bulls from G W & M Singleton sold to £545/ head and Richard Findlay sold a pair of Sim x bulls to the same price.

Predominantly smaller cattle forward today in the big ring, but a super Charolais heifer from J F Lambert topped the day at £1395, and steers sold to £1285 for a shapely Lim x from E Lazenby. A run of smaller suckler bred steers and heifers from H&B Beevers sold very well, with all cattle from them working out 305-355ppkg!  Feeding bulls were also good to sell with a consignment of heavy dairy bulls from N P Turnbull which sold to £1040/ head exceeding his expectations! 

Cattle already entered for the coming weeks, Store & breeding sheep to be sold next week at 1pm!
