FORWARD

York Auction Centre had 69 head of stock through the market including 35 store cattle and 34 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £840 for a Hereford Bull Calf from M I C Slater.

Heifers sold to £1020 for a Montbeliarde from Reuben Smith.

Steers sold to £1465 for a Simmental X from J Foulston & Sons.

Bulls sold to £1340 for a Hereford from J Sykes.

A good number of stirks started the day, no fresh calves in but some entered from A Burgess for next week! M I C Slater topped the stirks with his tremendous Hereford x bulls selling to £840, and John Lambert topped the heifers with his AAX x Charolais selling to £720. Weaned dairy x stirks sold to £655 for a Hereford bull from GW & M Singleton, an absolutely flying trade start to finish and all vendors returned home delighted!  

In the big ring, a small number of stores met a strong trade with plenty buyer demand for all grades of cattle! The Foulston family topped the day over all with a pair of super Simmental steers which sold to £1465/ head, and Matthew Longley wasn’t far behind with his BRB X steer at £1455. Ruben Smith topped the heifers with a Montbéliard X which sold to £1020 and strong Hereford bulls from J Sykes sold to £1340. Smaller wintering cattle sold to £960 from John Chapman. Many more cattle can be sold every week! Store and breeding sheep at 1pm next week!
