FORWARD

York Auction Centre had 129 head of stock through the market including 77 store cattle, 10 calves, 1 Breeding cattle and 41 sheep.

 

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £715 for a British Friesian Bull Calf from R & E B Drake.

Breeding Cattle sold to £1750 for a Limousin X Bull from M & E Shaw.

Heifers sold to £1270 for a Limousin X from Rory Kemp LTD.

Steers sold to £1780 for a Aberdeen Angus from Rory Kemp LTD.

Bulls sold to £1275 for a Hereford from J Sykes.

 

 

A good days trading on a miserable wet day! 

 

Fresh Calves sold to £450 for a nice Limousin bull from HL & TE smith with others selling to £435 and all calves from the same home stayed together and went to local mart supporter R A Suddaby. Bull stirks from R & EB Drake flew away to £715 for a 6-month-old British Friesian bull selling to regular vendors A P & RA Dunn.

 

In the big ring, an 18-month-old Limousin bull sold to £1750 from the shaw family, Halter trained pedigrees are entered from them for the multibreed sale! A better number of store cattle sold to £1780/ head for a pair of heavy AAX steers, part of a tremendous run of cattle from R Kemp, and a heifer from the same home topped at £1270. Other super cattle from CT Bramley sold to £1700 twice and £1620 for his super red lim steers and the Kilby family presented their usual quality cattle with their top steer selling to £1365 or 364ppkg! Smaller cattle just a bit harder to place, but a super AAX heifer from R Midgley sold to £1180, with plenty cattle similar weights in the £1000-£1100 bracket. 

 

Store lambs 

 

Just a small show today with bluetongue keeping large numbers of sheep at home, but trade remained good for heavy sorts, with a pen of 3 beltex from H & B Beevers topping at £131 a head and other pens sold from £110-115, smaller lambs a bit harder to place but another 6 pens all sold from £92-£99, all lambs to average a healthy £99.02/ head across the board, many more can be sold every fortnight!
