York Auction Centre had 45 head of stock throughout the market including 35 store cattle and 10 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £485 for a Aberdeen Angus Heifer Calf from A Coe.

Heifers sold to £1180 for a Hereford from G Norminton.

Steers sold to £1255 for a Limousin X from C R Simpson.

Bulls sold to £1440 for a British Blonde X from C T Bramley & Son.

Just a small show today with cattle still at home grazing and a few farmers trying to get drilled up, but trade looked as dear as ever! 

In the calf ring, no fresh calves forward, but a run of stirks sold to £485/ head for a pair of nice native bred heifers from A Coe to regular mart supporters A E Dunn & son, and bull stirks from Richard Findlay sold to £430/ head for a pair of AAX bulls, heifers from the same home sold to £470/ head. Fresh Lim x calves entered from A Burgess and Hereford x bull stirks from G W Singleton already entered for next week! 

In the big ring, a show of predominantly smaller cattle sold to tops of £1440 for a shapely blonde x bull from C T Bramley, other bulls from the same home sold to £1410 and £1330. Stronger steers sold to £1255 from C R Simpson for a shapely Lim x and heifers sold to £1180/ head for a pen of three Hereford x. The second consignment of Jan-April born Charolais steers from K Burn sold tremendously well topping at £1195 for a strong pair, with others in the run selling regularly over 400ppkg with one buyer taking as many as they could!
