York Auction Centre had 44 head of stock throughout the market including 4 breeding cattle, 28 store cattle and 12 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £760 for an Aberdeen Angus Heifer Calf from R & E B Drake.

Breeding cattle sold to £950 for a Hereford Cow with a Hereford heifer calf at foot from Leeds City Council.

Heifers sold to £990 for a British Blue from J R Richardson.

Steers sold to £1140 for a British Blue from Askham Bryan College.

Bulls sold to £820 for a British Friesian from N P Turnbull.

Just a small show today, but some very nicely presented cattle were forward. 

The calf ring once again saw a red-hot trade, a consignment of super fresh calves started the day from regular vendors A Burgess of Filey, bull calves sold tremendously well from £430-£455 all to a new farmer buyer from Sinnington, and a heifer calf from the same home sold to £320. R& E B Drake topped the stirks with an AAX bull which topped at £760 and a British Friesian bull stirk from the same home sold to £740! Smaller stirks sold to £470 for an AAX bull from Swithens farm and an AAX heifer sold to £490.

In the big ring, two traditional type Hereford cow & calf outfits sold to £950 from Leeds city council, with more outfits expected in the coming weeks. Store cattle looked as good to sell as ever, although no real short keep cattle were forward today. Some very well-presented cattle from Askham Bryan college topped the day’s trade at £1140 for a Shapley BRBx steer, with others in the consignment selling to £1065/ head for blues and £1035 for shorthorns. Heifers topped at £990/ head for a pen of well-matched BRBx from JR Richardson and a nice pen of Hereford x heifers sold to £765/ head from the same home. Some bigger heifers sold to £985 for a Hereford x from A E Dunn, and a pen of strong black and white bulls from N P Turnbull sold to £820/ head. 

Some quality, strong cattle already entered for next week from Cornborough Farms and S Barnes!
