York Auction Centre had 120 head of stock through the market including 2 breeding cattle, 56 store cattle, 33 calves and 29 store sheep.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £620 for an Aberdeen Angus Heifer Calf from D W & B Proctor.

Breeding cattle sold to £730 for a Hereford Cow from Leeds City Council.

Heifers sold to £1385 for a British Blue from J O & R W Sturdy.

Steers sold to £1695 for a Limousin X from S & K Asquith.

A nice show across all sections today! 33 calves and stirks started the day with some tremendous fresh calves from H L & T E Smith topping at £470 for a Limousin x bull and another from the same home sold to £440, fresh heifer calves from A Burgess sold to £390 and £340 to all to local mart supporter Steve Barnes. Native bred fresh calves sold to £170 for a sweet little Hereford from G & J Dean and black and white bulls sold to £135 from the same home! Stronger stirks from Corner farm sold well above the vendors expectations by £120 to £620 for a strong AAX heifer selling to F Sellars, other strong sorts sold to £580 from the same home and bull stirks sold to £475 from R Findlay.

 

In the big ring, two in calf traditional Hereford cows scanned in calf from Leeds city council sold to £730, more entered in the coming weeks. Store cattle topped at £1695 for a super Lim x BRB steer from N Asquith, and another super steer from the Asquith family sold to £1660. 
A run of BRBx heifers sold particularly well from J R Sturdy with nothing in the consignment under £1310, topping at £1385/ head, other similar types from J R Gill and son sold to £1335. A good run of lighter feeding cattle from Jason Hughes sold to 1145/ head, and a super run of nicely presented smaller suckler bred cattle from Granville Ellis sold very well to £1245/ head or 332ppkg! 24 store lambs sold to £86/ head from Matthew richardson for a pen of texel x Cheviot mule and Charolais x lambs from A Watkinson sold to £78/ head, and a pen of tup lambs from M W Wilson sold to £43/ head. Overall, all stock looked well sold and all vendors returned home happy!
