York Auction Centre had 117 head of stock through the market including, 57 store cattle, 25 calves and 35 store sheep.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £640 for a Hereford Heifer Calf from M I C Slater.

Bulls sold to £1370 for a Limousin X from Walloway Farm.

Heifers sold to £1925 for a Limousin X from J B Hornby.

Steers sold to £1935 for a Simmental X from J B Hornby.

A super days trading at York once again! 

In calf ring a good run of calves and stirks found a very good trade to buyers old and new! Fresh calves from A Burgess sold to £390 for a nice lim x bull calf and another to £380, fresh heifer calves just a little harder to place selling to £240. M I C Slater topped the stirks with a a strong packet of 4 Hereford x heifers selling to £640/ head to A E Dunn, Mike Thompson wasn’t far behind selling a pair of AAX bulls straight off the cow at £630/ head. Strong British friesian bull stirks from R & E B Drake sold very well to £610/ head to AP & R A Dunn. Smaller weaned calves sold to £420 for a nice AAX bull from D V Lee. 

Some strength and size about the store cattle today with perhaps a new mart record being set by Jim Hornby selling a sim x steer to £1935, and a lim x heifer to £1925, other super cattle from the same home sold to £1895 and £1755! Nick Asquith wasn’t far behind with a 20 month old lim x steer selling to £1705 also taking the top ppkg today at 321ppkg! Other strong cont x cattle sold regularly around the £1500-£1600 mark, and a strong British friesian x steer from L A Clappison looked very well sold at £1370!  Smaller cattle once again looked a firm trade with a superb lim heifer from Ian Wilkinson selling to £1355 and a pair of nice Limx heifers from E W & E Swiers sold to £1175/ head. A pair of tremendous 9 months old pure lim bulls from J M Walker sold to £1445/ head, and a nice BRBx from Ian Broadhead sold to £1045, cattle remain firmly in demand and many more could have been sold!
