York Auction Centre had 128 head of stock through the market including, 53 store cattle, 17 calves and 58 sheep.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £490 for a British Blue Heifer Calf from R G Findlay.

Bulls sold to £1440 for a Limousin X from J & M Dean & Son.

Heifers sold to £1355 for a Hereford from G F & C H Johnson.

Steers sold £1440 for an Aberdeen Angus G F & C H Johnson.

The last store sale of the year saw a busy day with something in every section!

A super run of calves kicked the day off, with A Burgess topping the fresh calves at £475 for a super Lim x bull, with other bulls selling regularly to £430-£440, both from the same home and H L & T E Smith, Heifer calves sold regularly from £350-£370 also from A Burgess, and a run of heifer stirks from R Findlay sold to £490/ head. More calves entered for the new year!

In the big ring, a good number for the last sale of the year topped at £1440 for well grown AAX steer from G F & C H Johnson, with a pen of heifers from the same home selling to £1355/ head, more entered from the Johnson family in the new year! Rob Sturdy wasn’t far behind selling a pen of nice BRBx heifers to £1270 and £1190/ head, and smaller cattle sold to £1045 for a nice BRBx steer from W J Fox, and a pen of 4 well-presented Angus steers sold to £910/ head from Askham Bryan College.

Store lambs and feeding ewes were as good to sell as ever, no big sorts penned, but a super run of little Beltex x lambs from R A Dobson sold to tops of £120/ head, with most sorts regularly £100/ or better with an over all average of £110.11/ head! Feeding ewes looked a very good trade selling to £108/ head for a pen of strong mules, all ewes to av £92/ head. More lambs already entered for next year!
