York Auction Centre had 133 head of stock through the market including 107 store cattle & 26 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £995 for a Dairy Shorthorn Bull Calf from R & E B Drake.

Heifers sold to £2125 for a British Blue from S & K Asquith.

Steers sold to £2185 for a British Blue from S & K Asquith.

Bulls sold to £1825 for a Charolais X from J F Lambert.

Another super days trading at YAC with 107 store cattle and 26 stirks forward! 

No fresh calves forward this week but a row and a half of stirks were an absolute joy to sell with all types looking a red-hot trade! All mart records for stirks were shattered today when a Dairy shorthorn bull stirk was knocked down £995 presented by R & E B Drake with two more British Friesian crosses from the same home selling to £940, and £865!! All to local farmer buyers! A pair of nice steers from Richard Nicholson sold to £700/ head and heifers topped at £800 for a nice BRBx, part of a very well-presented consignment from W J Fox & son with 4 more £700-£755! Fresh calves wanted! And more stirks can be handled weekly, call James to enter! 

107 store cattle looked every bit as dear as ever with S & K Asquith topping the trade at £2185 for a tremendous BRBx Lim steer, with 2 more from the same home selling to £2125, and £2095! Not quite as many strong cattle in today but all sorts remain well sought after, the Kilby family presented their usual quality Lim steers which sold well to £1865, with one in the consignment just short of 400ppkg! Clean cattle below the 500Kg mark topped at £1790 from W B & A Kilby with others asking to £1690, a pair of nice Charolais x heifers from Gail Inchboard sold to £1530/ head and a super packet of BRBx heifers from J E Sturdy sold to £1435/ head! 

Smaller 12-15 months old cattle looked very well sold, with consignments of AAX heifers from Granville Ellis selling to £1200, and £1190/ head, a ring full of Lim x steers from H W Houseman & partners sold to £975/ head or 343ppkg, and a run of well-presented dairy x BRBx steers from Askham Bryan college sold to £900/ head, leaving the manager both shocked and delighted! More to come from the college in the coming weeks! 

26 feeding bulls flew away to tops of £1825/ head for a pair of superb Charolais from J F Lambert, with others from the same home selling to £1760, a run of strong bulls from J & A Trenholme sold to £1770 and £1760 and slightly smaller bulls sold to £1450/ head from C T Bramley for his nice BRBx.
