York Auction Centre had 129 head of stock through the market including 3 breeding cattle, 112 store cattle and 14 calves.
TOP PRICES
Calves sold to £785 for a British Blue Bull Calf from F Atkinson & Sons.
Breeding cattle sold to £2050 for a Shorthorn Cow with a British Blue heifer calf at foot from C R Simpson.
Heifers sold to £2305 for a Limousin X from J B Hornby.
Steers sold to £2700 for a Limousin X from Penwood Farm LLP.
Bulls sold to£2780 for a Limousin X from Penwood Farm LLP.
Another busy week, another fantastic trade, with 12 lots from £2000 upwards!
A nice show of calves and stirks started the day with all types being keenly sought after, fresh calves sold to a staggering £505 for a 4-week-old lim x heifer from A Burgess and a nice bull from the same home sold to £470! Other fresh bull calves sold to £435 for a lim x and black and whites topped at £230 all from P J Waring & son. Bull stirks sold to £525/ head for a pair of black and whites and a nice packet of BRBx sold to £755/ head for heifers and £785 for steers all from F Atkinson & son.
112 store cattle met a fierce trade once again with Ted Hughes topping the day over all with an enormous lim x bull which sold to £2,780, two more heavy bulls from the same home sold to £2,680/ head and the Hughes family also topped the steers today at £2,700! Other smaller bulls sold to £1645 for a super blonde d’aquitaine from N T & J H Barrett. Jim Hornby of whitedale topped the heifers with his superb run of 2-year-old lim x selling to £2,305, with another two of the same consignment selling to £2,290, and £2,210, and other strong cattle sold to £2185 for a nice BRBx steer from N J Sellars.
Midterm cattle were still as good to sell as ever with a nice lim x heifer from John Trenholme topping the bracket at £1895, and other similar weight cattle from Richard Nicholson, Brian Basham and Mrs G Stephenson sold to £1575, £1565 and £1520 respectively. A consignment of 21 Holstein x feeding heifers from A E Banks sold particularly well to several different buyers topping at £1460/ head, with even the smallest & lightest framed sorts at just under 2.70ppkg! And smaller, summering cattle sold to £1190/ head for a nice trip of AAX steers from Ted Lazenby, Whatever the cattle- YAC can sell them and many more could have been sold!
