York Auction Centre had 144 head of stock through the market including 2 breeding cattle, 103 store cattle and 39 calves.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £910 for an Aberdeen Angus Steer calf from Richard Nicholson Ltd.

Breeding cattle sold to £1550 for a Hereford Cow with a Hereford Bull Calf at foot from R Wood.

Heifers sold to £2240 for a Limousin X from T W Thompson & Son.

Steers sold to £2145 for a Limousin X from Brian Basham.

Bulls sold to £2085 for a Limousin X from I & P Kilner.  

103 store cattle and 39 calves & stirks sold to new heights once again with bulls selling to 604ppkg!

A good show of calves and stirks kicked the day off with something for every pocket from vendors old and new! Fresh calves sold to £560 twice for Alison Burgess’s superb 4 week old Lim x bulls, another sold to £555, and a smart British Friesian from the same home sold to £325! Other smart rearing sorts from A & A Wake sold to £540 for a BRBx bull and natives topped at £505 for a nice Hereford x from G & J Dean & Son. Stirks topped at £910 for an AAX steer from R Nicholson and dairy x steers sold to £630 from R S Cockerill farms.

In the big ring, all grades of cattle remain keenly sought after, with a pair of lim x steers from Brian Basham topping the trade at £2145/ head. Other strong cattle sold to £2,240/ head for a pair or super Lim x heifers from T W Thompson of Kilburn. A good amount of summering cattle sold very well topping at £1445 for a pen full of Charolais heifers from K Burn and a trio of Lim x steers from H & B Beevers sold to 445ppkg! Bulls certainly looked the trade of the day selling to £2085/ head or 604ppkg for a pair of Lim x from I & P Kilner with others from the same home selling to £2060, and £2050! A consignment of nice Charolais bulls from J F Lambert sold to £1980 twice and £1840/ head for a trio of similar good sorts.
