York Auction Centre had 131 head of stock through the market including 4 breeding cattle, 117 store cattle and 10 calves.
TOP PRICES
Calves sold to £990 for a British Blue Bull calf from J E Shepherd.
Breeding cattle sold to £2580 for a Blonde X Cow with a Limousin X heifer calf at foot from M & S Horsley.
Heifers sold to £2630 for a British Blue from C T Bramley & Son.
Steers sold to £2000 for a Limousin X from S Barnes.
Bulls sold to £1680 for a Simmental X from G W Warriner & Son.
Another good day’s trading at YAC, with 117 store cattle, 2 cow & calf outfits and 10 calves and stirks.
Just a few buyers missing round the calf ring today, but trade topped at £990 for a well fed BRBx bull from J E Shepherd, and a sim x heifer from the same home sold to £980. British Friesian bull stirks sold to £860, and fresh calves sold to £360 for a Lim x heifer from P J Waring.
In the big ring, two cow and calf outfits from M & S Horsley sold to £2580 for a blonde x cow with a super Lim x calf at foot, and store cattle topped at £2630 for a strong, 2 year old sim x heifer from C T Bramley. Mark Colley wasn’t far behind at £2220/ head for two heavy BRBx heifers and Stephen Barnes topped the steers at £2000/ head for his usual good quality Lim x. Smaller suckler bred sorts from W B & A Kilby looked well sold at £1940 for Lim x steer, and smart summering sorts sold regularly above 4.00/kg! Bulls sold to £1680 for a nice suckler bred sim x from new vendors G W Warriner with two more from the same home sold to selling to £1480/ head and other small Angus bulls sold to £1000 for freshly weaned sorts straight off hay from J Lancaster & sons.
