STORE MARKET & PEDIGREE SALE

FORWARD

York Auction Centre had 90 head of stock through the market including 61 store cattle, 4 breeding cattle, 14 calves and 11 pedigree cattle.

 

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £665 for a British Blue from A Rooke & Sons.

Heifers sold to £1255 for a Limousin X from J Sykes.

Steers sold to £1640 for a Beef Shorthorn from R P Wilson.

Bulls sold to £1195 for a British Blonde X from C T Bramley & Son.

Pedigree cattle sold to 2200GNS for a Aberdeen Angus Bull from M E Watson.

 

A nice show of cattle in today with some fantastic natives forward! 

 

Calves & stirks started the day with 3 super lim x heifers from A Burgess selling twice to £400 and topped at £410 all to a new Scarborough buyer! Heifer stirks were a lot better to sell this week with two nice BRB x from A Rooke selling to £665 and £610 both to mart supporter Harry Hogarth, bull stirks just a bit easier with a buyer or two full up for this week but Hereford x bulls sold to £520 from D A Boyes and blues sold to £450 from A Rooke. 

 

In the big ring, a cow & calf from R Midgley sold to £132 and a decent number of stores sold to tops of £1640 for a pen of 3 tremendous Beef Shorthorn steers from R P Wilson. Other big cattle sold to £1575 for a super BRB x steer from D Miller and to £1370/ head again from R P Wilson. Slightly smaller cattle sold to £1275 for an AAX steer and Julie Sykes wasn’t far behind with a pair of Hereford heifers which sold to £1255/ head. Smaller end cattle were still keenly sought after with a super run of Charolais steers from K Burn selling to tops of £965, with batches of smaller sorts to £875/ head.  More cattle from RP Wilson and K Burn entered for next week!

 

The autumn pedigree sale saw mainly natives penned this year, with a 4-year-old Angus bull “Derwent Kenneth” presented by M E Watson of Lockton taking the top spot selling to 2,200 guineas, and a beef shorthorn bull “Ella Robbie” presented by J R Hawking sold to 1580 guineas. Heifers sold to tops of 1285/ head also from J R Hawking and Herefords from Julie Sykes sold to 1065 guineas. Thank you to all who supported the sale!
