SHEEP
The first store and breeding sale of the year kicked off to what can only be described as an absolutely flying trade, with buyers travelling from as far as Lincolnshire and Derbyshire doing battle with a packed ringside of local buyers with all classes of lambs and ewes keenly bid for.
55 Breeding sheep sold to £172 for a pen of texel x mules from C S Mills, with one buyer from the west riding buying all 38 in the consignment! Aged ewes sold to £115 for some heavy Suffolk x from M Cavell, Feeding ewes required for the next sale!
200 store lambs came next with some very nice lambs forward and good support from last years vendors. Heights of the day saw heavy texel x lambs make £125 from R B Contracting with other notable consignments averaging over £100/ head.
Short keep lambs averaged £109 per head
Mid term lambs averaged £89 per head
Long term lambs averaged £55 per head
