York Auction Centre had 143 head of stock through the market including 97 store cattle, 43 calves and 3 breeding cattle.

TOP PRICES

Calves sold to £755 for a British Blue from Rob Brownbridge & C Kirkby.

Breeding cattle sold to £1325 for a British Shorthorn Heifer with a Limousin X Bull calf at foot.

Heifers sold to £1470 for a Simantel X from W E & A Massey.

Steers sold to £1480 for a Aberdeen Angus from Brian Basham.

Bulls sold to £1550 for a Charolais X from J F Lambert.

Calves

A brilliant show of calves and stirks forward today with both new buyers and vendors in operation and a fantastic trade to match! Fresh calves were a joy to sell to a range of buyers with Limousin x bulls from H L & T E Smith selling to £410 with Alison Burgess not far behind £355 for a similar type of bull calf just a little smaller. Fresh blue bull calves from B Rab sold to £310 and fresh heifer calves sold to £330 from A Burgess. Native calves sold to £195 for an AAX bull from B Rab. Next up were the stirks, with a superb run of well-presented BRB X and AA X heifers selling to £755/ head and £700/ respectively, Sim bulls sold to £640/ head from M Kent and dairy bull stirks sold to £300/ head from A Rooke.
