York Auction Centre had 74 head of stock through the market including 2 breeding cattle, 57 store cattle and 15 calves.
TOP PRICES
Calves sold to £670 for a Hereford Heifer Calf from M I C Slater.
Breeding cattle sold to £1775 for a British Blonde X J P & M Birtwhistle.
Heifers sold to £1720 for an Aberdeen Angus from L A Clappison.
Steers sold to £1680 for a Limousin X from J B Hornby.
Bulls sold to £1375 for a Charolais X from A & G M Grant.
A nice show of cattle forward today with something for every pocket!
Fresh calves looked very well sold with a run of nice little rearing bulls from G J Dean topping at £285 for a nice BRBx bull, fleckviehs sold to £250 and Hereford bulls to £230 all selling to local mart supporter Alan Suddaby, natives topped at £280 for a nice AAX bull from D V Lee. A pair of Hereford heifer Stirks from M I C Slater flew away to £670/ head and AAX stirks from G J Dean sold to £620 to mart regular Frank Sellars. More calves entered for the next sales!

In the big ring, store cattle remained as strong a trade as ever with buyers especially looking for size and flesh! New Vendors J P & M A Birtwhistle topped the day over all with a superb 3 year old bax heifer selling to £1775, and Jack Clappison of Keyingham marsh wasn’t far behind with a heavy AAX heifer at £1720! Jim Hornby once again presented a super consignment of 4 strong lim x steers and heifers topping at £1680 for a lim steer with other selling to £1635. Slightly smaller cattle sold regularly around the £1400 mark with a nice lengthy steer from W B & A Kilby topping at £1410, and a pair of nice suckler bred Herefords from D H Sparrow sold to £1365/ head.
Smaller cattle still found the buyers with a super run of nicely presented cattle from Granville Ellis selling to £1170 for a lim steer and a lim heifer sold to £1140. Suckler bred Angus steers and heifers sold to £1135/ head from the same home! A run of dairy x blues from John Richardson sold to tops of £985 for a bull steers sold to £880/ head or 311ppkg and heifers from the same home sold to £765/ head and just a handful of bulls topped at £1375/ head from A G & M Grant for a pair of char x.
